This policy explains, in plain terms, what personal information we collect when you use exceeddesigns.com, buy from us or contact us, and what we do with it.

1. What we collect

Order and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, the items you order and your order history.
Account details: your login email and password (stored in protected form), saved addresses, wishlist and cart.
Payment details: card payments are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you paid, but we never see or store your full card number.
Service Center requests: what you tell us about the problem, photos you upload, messages, and shipping and tracking details for the case.
Warranty registrations, reviews and messages you send us.
Information collected automatically when you visit, such as your device and browser type, how you reached the site and how you use it.

2. How we use it

To take, ship and support your orders, returns, warranty claims and repairs.
To run your account and send you emails about your orders and service requests.
To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
To improve the site and our products.
To send marketing emails if you signed up for them (see section 4).
To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

3. Analytics and cookies

We use our own first-party analytics and Google Analytics to understand how people use the site so we can improve it.

The site uses cookies and your browser's local storage to keep your cart and sign-in working, to run those analytics, and so our payment processor can prevent fraud at checkout. We do not currently use advertising networks or social media tracking pixels. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, although the cart and sign-in may not work without them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your information.

4. Email

Order and service emails (confirmations, shipping notices, quotes, packing slips) are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). They are part of providing your order, so you get them whether or not you subscribe to marketing.
Marketing emails are sent through Mailchimp. You get them if you sign up for our newsletter or a giveaway, or register a product warranty (registering adds you to our list). Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the business, and only as much as they need to do their job:

Stripe to process payments;
ShipStation, USPS and UPS (and other carriers we use) to ship orders and service returns;
Amazon Web Services, which hosts our site and sends our order emails through Amazon SES;
Mailchimp for marketing email;
Google for Google Analytics.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. We keep account information while your account is open. Photos uploaded with a Service Center request are deleted 12 months after the case closes. Other information is kept only as long as we need it for the purposes above.

Tip: photos taken on a phone can contain location data. Some formats, such as HEIC, may keep that data after upload. If you don't want to share it, turn off location tagging or remove it before uploading.

7. Reviews and public content

Reviews, photos and other content you choose to post publicly on the site can be seen by anyone.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.

9. Your choices and requests

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to send you a copy. Email Orders@ExceedDesigns.com with your request. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep information we are legally required to keep (for example, order records for tax purposes). Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honour them as that law requires. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

10. Children

Our site is not meant for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Knives and other edged tools are sold only to adults 18 and over. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International visitors

We are based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date.
